Zsa Zsa Gabor got married nine times. I was her tenth.

How on earth do you dream about something you never had knowledge of in the first place?

Had you asked me prior to last night who Zsa Zsa Gabor was, I'd have told you I'd heard of him, and guessed he was a middle eastern dictator of the early 20th century.

Because that's what his name sounded like.

What I discovered during a dream last night was that, not only was he not a dictator of anywhere, but that "he" was, in fact, a "she."

The Zsa Zsa Gabor was a blonde bombshell socialite from the 1950s who married nine different men.

How this came to seep into my subconscious I have no idea, because I've never learnt it, or can't remember learning it.

I've always been a vivid dreamer, and anti-depressants make them more 'vivid-er.' I've dreamt of escaping the Russian invasion of Georgia; working as a stunt double and jumping out of a plane on a Mission Impossible movie; and being there when Cyril Callister created Vegemite. But all of those dreams are logical because I've read about them or watched them.

In terms of the Zsa Zsa dream, I've tried to think back to a time I may have inadvertently learnt about her, and it's just not there. I've never known a thing about her.

Half of this is potentially explained within the dream itself. When she first presented in the dream, she was a blonde, but looked like Mamie Van Doren.

(Side note – Mamie Van Doren was Universal's answer to Marilyn Monroe at 20th Century Fox, but her career never took off.)

I think this confirms I'd never seen Zsa Zsa's face.

Furthermore, she spoke in a way that confirmed I'd also never heard her speak.

The dream began with me standing in front of a record store, looking through the window display at a black and white television, when Zsa Zsa approached, told me her name, and propositioned me.

"Marry me," she said.

Why this confirmed I'd never heard her speak, is because in the dream she spoke with an American accent, whereas in real life, she spoke with Hungarian accent.

She said one more thing to me, "Nine is the loneliest number. I need you to be my number ten," and I was convinced.

I've never bought something from the shops on impulse, yet in this dream I was impulsively saying 'yes,' to marrying a woman I'd met thirty seconds earlier.

Let's not read any more into that!

I can't tell you anything else about the dream because that's all I remember about it.

I've done some reading since to find out if the dream I experienced is actually possible, and – from what I've read – it turns out it is. With an asterisk.

Research in the US has shown it is possible to dream about something or someone we have inadvertently learnt about, but have no memory of.

The asterisk is that the research also states the human brain is incapable of creating a new face or new voice.

This explains why my dream was able to convey the correct facts – Zsa Zsa's name, hair colour, and marriage history – but could not correctly illustrate her face or correctly modulate her voice.

The good ol' human brain eh?

God knows what mine will inadvertently cling to next, and send out in my dreams in the future.
